New Executive Council of High Energy Physics Society Elected

The High Energy Physics Society, member of the Chinese Physical Society (CPS) held its 8th National General Assembly in 

 

 the individual members listen to the report

Nanchang University from April 16th to April 19th. Over 280 individual members from 55 institutes and universities attended this meeting.

On behalf of the 7th Executive Council, CAS Academician Chen Hesheng delivered the work report. He reviewed the progress of China’s high energy physics and the activities hosted by the Society. Chen emphasized on strengthening international exchanges, domestic cooperation between scientific institutes and universities, combination of theory and practice and training of young talents.

The agenda of the meeting included academic exchanges of the latest progress and research results of high energy physics, election of the new executive council, and selection of excellent papers. Three parallel sessions, theoretical physics, experimental physics and non-accelerator, were held. Experts were invited, who delivered 18 reports on a wide range of topics, overview of BESIII physics results, LHC initial results, Dayabay project, Z factory, super flavor, underground laboratory, dark matter and LHAASO project progress, etc.

The meeting was culminated by the election of CAS Academician Zhao Guangda as the president of the new executive council.
