Chinese is known as a difficult language to learn, but if you are at IHEP for longer than a short visit, it is well worth the investment.

The best way to learn is to hire a tutor for as much time as you are able. You can ask the IHEP International Office for suggestions, or you can look online for language schools. In areas of the city with a higher concentration of foreigners, such as the area near Tsinghua and Peking Universities, there are many private language schools offering small-group or individual tuition. You may also be able to arrange a tutor to come to IHEP or to a location convenient to both of you. For one-on-one tuition, expect to pay about CNY 150 per hour, depending on the experience of the teacher.
