the test, the coupler achieved a high RF power up to 400kW in continuous wave (CW), which reached the international advanced level in the field. The test result proved that the coupler’s performance agreed well with its designed specifications.

BEPCII is an accelerator with high luminosity and high beam current. The RF power needs to be increased as the beam current goes up. During the process, the power transferring capability of coupler needs to be enhanced; a high power input coupler becomes the key factor to achieve a high beam current.

Since the R&D of a high power input coupler is very challenging, only a few accelerator laboratories are able to develop couplers that can go up to 400kW with CW. The IHEP-developed couplers can replace the expensive imported ones for the BEPCII SCC. Its design and fabrication technologies lay a solid basis for the localization of this product and the further development of high power input couplers for other high beam current accelerators.
