First BEPCII Super-conducting RF Cavity Passed RF Power Test

From June 26 to July 1, the RF power test on the BEPCII super-conducting RF cavity was held for the first time. The test was organized by the BEPCII Project Management, more than 20 experts from IHEP, KEK, Mitsubishi Corp. and SSRF participated. 2MV RF voltage was first reached on June 29 with Q0 measurements meeting the designed requirements.

The super-conducting RF system is the only “engine” in the storage ring that provides power for the beams. Super-conducting cavity is one of the three core components of the RF system. The successful test laid a firm foundation for beam adjustments later this year.
