Academic Lecture: Dark matter direct detections and the neutrino floor
Seminar
Title: Dark matter direct detections and the neutrino floor
Speaker: Prof. Wei Chao (晁伟)(BNU)
Time: 10:00 AM, Oct.10th (Thursday), 2019
Place: R319, Theoretical Physics Division
Abstract:
Cosmological observations tell us that about 26.8% of the energy present in the universe should be dark matter (DM), which behaviors just like a beyond standard model particle and interacts weakly with the ordinary matter. In this talk, the speaker will discuss issues relevant for the direct detections of cold DM in underground laboratories, with special emphasis on the neutrino floor, which is the background induced by coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering. Impacts of new physics to the neutrino floor as well as the DM-nucleus scattering will be discussed.
