Title: A Possible New Phase of Thermal QCD
Speaker: Prof. Ivan Horvath (University of Kentucky)
Time: 10:00 AM, Jun. 13th (Thursday), 2019
Place: R319, Theoretical Physics Division
Abstract:
I will discuss the results of thermal lattice QCD simulations showing very unusual behavior of Dirac spectral density at sufficiently high temperatures. Starting from these findings, I will then present arguments leading to the conclusion that, in the corresponding regime, thermal fluctuations act to restore scale invariance at long distances in a non-trivial interacting manner. Implications of this finding for the description of near-perfect fluid medium observed at RHIC and LHC are discussed.
