Abstract: In these talks, the speaker will present an introduction to tensor networks and various applications to quantum many body systems and classical statistical systems. After introducing the basic ideas of tensor networks, he will specifically talk about matrix product states (MPS) and tree-shaped tensor networks including the multi-scale entanglement renormalization ansatz (MERA), and how they work in simulation of quantum and classical models. In particular, he will present how they are used to extract universal data of conformal field theories for critical systems.
