【10.27】Academic Lecture: New physics searches at CMS
Title: New physics searches at CMS Speaker: John Paul Chou Time: 15:00, October 27 Place: Room B326, IHEP Main Buiding Abstract: In this talk, John Paul Chou will give a brief summary of searches for new physics at CMS. He will discuss what he consider some of the most interesting and important searches that have been conducted in the past few years, focusing in particular on the unique strategies that make them powerful probes for new physics. He will also discuss where some of the more significant holes in the current search program are and what we should do about it at 13 TeV. About the speaker: John Paul Chou is an experimental physics working on both CMS and CDF experiments. He got his bachelor degree at Princeton University in 2002, and Ph.D at Harvard University in 2008. After that, he spent 3 years in Brown University as research associate. From 2011, he is assistant professor in Rutgers University. John Paul focuses on new physics searches; he is current CMS exotica group convenor. |
