【11.5】Academic Lecture: Scintillation Crystals for HEP Experiments
Title: Scintillation Crystals for HEP Experiments
Speaker: Dr. Liyuan Zhang(Caltech, USA)
Time: 10:00 AM, November 5,
Place: Room C305, IHEP Main Buiding
Moderator: Prof. CHEN Hesheng
Abstract:
Crystal calorimeter has traditionally played an important role in precision measurement of electrons and photons in high energy physics experiments. This talk reports a comparison of common used scintillation crystals, the performance of the CMS PWO crystal calorimeter in situ at LHC and its precision laser monitoring system. An issue of neutron induced nuclear counter effect in Si APDs is also discussed. Progress in our understanding on the application of cerium doped LSO and LYSO crystals in future HEWP experiments, such as the proposed SuperB experiment at Fermi lab and the CMS FCAL upgrade for the HL-LHC, will also be presented.
