Title: Dedicated PET Scanners for Breast Imaging
Speaker: TAVERNIER Stefaan, Paul, Karel
Moderator: Dr. Wei Long
Time: 10:00, April 11,2013
Place: Room C305, IHEP Main Building
Abstract:
One in 10 women will eventually develop breast cancer, and about half a million worldwide die every year from the disease. However, the prospects for cure are good if the cancer is detected at an early stage.Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a proven and powerful tool for detecting cancer. Therefore developing dedicated PET scanners for breast imaging is of paramount importance. The speaker will review the field of dedicated breast PET scanner development, and present the results obtained with the ClearPEM scanner. Promising lines for further development will also be discussed.
