China's 1st and world's 4th pulsed Spallation Neutron Source facility has opened in Dongguan, south China's Guangdong Province, reports the Science and Technology Daily.

The super-microscope is used to study areas including physics, chemistry and new energy.

"This will help us with advances in material science and technology, life sciences, condensed matter physics and chemistry, and will offer an internationally-advanced research platform for its users," said Chen Hesheng, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief commander of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) project.
