The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) and Lanzhou Institute of Physics (LIP), CAST signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing on December 20, 2010.

LIP used to be known as the Lanzhou Physics Institute of Space Technology under the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST). With a history of over 40 years, LIP has been very strong in developing space electronics technology, spatial microgravity technology, space pressure vessel design and manufacture, vacuum and cryogenic temperature technology etc.

Within the framework of the agreement, IHEP and LIP will accelerate cooperation on a wide range of new technology R&D, products development, scientific achievements transfer and talent training. LIP will also work with IHEP to jointly build up a win-win innovation platform, where rapid application of scientific studies in the astronomic field could be realized.

The LIP guests toured IHEP facilities and key laboratories.
