31st meeting of PRC / U.S. joint committee on high energy physics held in Beijing

The 31st Meeting of the PRC/U.S. Joint Committee on High Energy Physics took place on November 1 to 2, 2010 at the Institute 

 
 The U.S. delegation and the Chinese delegation
of High Energy Physics in Beijing, China. The U.S. delegation was led by Dr. Dennis KOVAR, Associate Director of the Office of Science for High Energy Physics, U.S. Department of Energy. The Chinese delegation was led by Dr. LIU Minghua, Director-General of the Bureau of Basic Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

At the meeting, heads of both delegations congratulated on the 31st anniversary of the collaboration and recalled the outstanding achievements made over the past thirty years. Other reports at the meeting included BEPCII upgrade, SSRF status, Daya Bay Experiment, the high energy physicsprograms in the U.S. and programs at FERMI Natioanl Laboratory. After extended discussions, both sides agreed with the 31st U.S./PRC Cooperative Program in High Energy Physics for 2010-2011, which contains 49 cooperative items.

Mr. Zhan Wenlong, Vice President of CAS attended the meeting as guest and made a brief speech, in which he spoke highly of the PRC/U.S. Cooperation in high energy physics and expressed CAS’s strong support for the collaboration.
