development was held on August 6,2010. The meeting was co-organized by the Institute of High Energy Physics and the Ningxia Orient Group Co., LTD (CNMC). Members of the project expert group and officials from MOST and CAS attended.

In his speech, Dr. CHEN Hesheng, IHEP Director, spoke highly of the CNMC Ningxia Orient Group Co., LTD. He said that the corporation made great contributions to the research of large grain niobium, which was a successful example for collaboration between mega-science projects and high-tech industries. Dr. Jiang Xiaoming, chief scientist of the project, gave a general talk on the current progress of the project. Seven sub-research teams reported separately on their project progress. A specially-invited talk “CW photo-RF gun at LBNL” was given by Dr. LI Derun, who was from the U.S. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

In the research on European X-Ray Free-Electron Laser (EXFEL) Facility, the newly-developed prototype of undulator was now undergoing a performance test in a domestic laboratory. It was anticipated that the prototype would be sent to Germany at the end of this year. The cryostat prototype passed the test and had already been put into use in Germany. In terms of the research on super-conducting cavity, the research team developed large grain niobium that reached international advanced standards.

During the meeting, members of the expert group had a meeting with the local government officials, all the attendees were invited to visit CNMC.
