CAS seminar on project management of mega-science facilities

A seminar on project management of mega-science facilities initiated by the Office of Mega-science facilities,

the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) from July 29 to 30. Aimed to impart knowledge and experience in project management, the seminar attracted over 100 people from the mega-science facilities under CAS.

Dr. WENG Wu-Tsung, who is the director of the Center for Accelerator Physics at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory, was invited as the key speaker and delivered a series of talks on the project management of mega-science facilities.

Citing vivid examples from DOE-supported projects, Dr. WENG shared with the audience his rich experience in project management, which covered the methods and concepts of management, budget, potential difficulties and staff training etc.

Four people from different CAS mega-science facilities talked about their experience in project management. Dr. WENG answered questions and rendered his suggestions.

The seminar was a full success and aroused warm responses from the attendees.
