US DOE Officials Inspect Construction Site

A seven-member-DOE delegation, led by Dr. Dennis KOVAR, Deputy Director of the Office of Science for High Energy Physics,

the U.S. Department of Energy inspected the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment on April 29th.

In the morning the delegation visited the installation hall for the detectors and the control center, and then the tunnel to see No. 1 and No. 5 Experimental Halls that have been completed. Dr. WANG Yifang, Project Manager and Spokesperson on Chinese side and Mr. Bill EDWARD, the US Manager introduced the construction progress and project management. Mr. LI Xiaonan from IHEP gave a more detailed explanation on the tunnel construction and the layout of the experimental halls. Discussions followed with topics ranging from detector installation, budget, construction schedule, project management, and other essential problems concerning the experiment.

Dr. Dennis KOVAR and his delegation expressed satisfaction with the project progress.
