Neutron Source (CSNS) Project in Dongguan and Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment Project (DYB) in Shenzhen from January 22 to 23, 2010.

The vice president toured the CSNS construction site in Dalang Town, Dongguan City, followed by an introduction on the site planning and the prototypes of the CSNS components.

XI Jiwei, Associate Director of the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), reported that the land-use plan had been submitted to higher authorities for approval, the project technical design was in full swing.

Prof. ZHAN commented that he was pleased to witness the fast progress and was confident in accomplishing the project with the support of the local government.

In the afternoon of January 22nd, ZHAN came to the construction site of the Daya Bay Reactor Neutrino Experiment.

Until now, 70% of the project engineering and most of the detectors construction have been completed; successful tests of the electronic system have been waged.

Prof. WANG Yifang, Deputy Director of IHEP reported the progress. Vice President ZHAN spoke highly of the DYB international collaboration team, especially of the IHEP staff who overcame difficulties ranging from tunnel construction to lack of funds.

He further commented that neutrino experiments were very hot nowadays in the international arena and faced with very fierce competition. He assured the physicists that CAS would continue to give strong support, and hoped that the pace could be sped up to win the fierce competition.
