The first phase of the BEPC major upgrade (known as BEPCII Project) has been successfully completed with BSRF running resumed on December 27, 2004. Since that date, Tsinghua University and others have successfully carried out their experiments.

　  2004 is the first year for the BEPCII Project, during which the upgrade of Linac, the dismantlement of BES, the transformation of IR, the increase of the transformer substation capacity have been accomplished. Among those, the installation of Linac was most critical. The Project staff had united as one, worked overtime, carefully performed all the work and overcomed various kinds of difficulties, thus ensuring that the installation and commissioning were completed on schedule. On November 19, 2004, beams successfully reached the end of Linac. On December 21, 2004, after SR running started, all the BSRF beam lines and experimental stations were successfully commissioned. On December 30, 2004, six-hour-timed-injection was made available, the goals for the first phase of BEPCII were successfully realized.

　　To ensure BSRF running time, all the engineering items of the upgrade have been carefully arranged with SR running planned alternately with the three phases of the upgrade. The current round of SR dedicated running will finish by the end of May to 2005.
