Final Assembly of BESⅢ Barrel EMC Accomplished
The final assembly of BESⅢ Barrel EMC was successfully accomplished in the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Science (IHEP,CAS) on June 14th, 2007.
The assembly started from December last year. It took researchers half a year to fulfill this project. BESⅢ Barrel EMC is composed of 60 crystal modules and each of these modules is composed of 88 CsI(Tl) crystal detector units hung to a steel girder, including 88 18 meter-long fourteen-core double-shielding cables and a set of high power LED. Modules are connected by optical fiber cables and the electronic preamplifier box connected by 2 water cooling pipes. The accomplishment is the result of painstaking efforts by many researchers and engineers involved over the past few months, it marks a new and significant milestone of the BESIII upgrade.
Chen Hesheng and other IHEP leaders joined the excited and happy workers in an informal celebration.
