Higgs 2023 Conference Held in Beijing

2023-12-08
The 12th International Higgs Conference was held in Beijing from November 27 to December 2, 2023. A total of 393 experts and scholars from 22 countries participated in the conference, of whom about 190 attended in person (30% from overseas) and more than 200 participated remotely.

Deputy Director of the Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS, Prof. CAO Jun, delivered a welcome speech, providing an overview of IHEP development history, the construction and operation status of major scientific facilities as well as development plans of IHEP, and extended best wishes for the successful outcome of the conference. The conference featured 103 oral presentations, which extensively discussed the experimental and theoretical results of Higgs boson research in high-energy physics, including the latest measurements of Higgs boson properties and the latest theoretical developments in the field of Higgs bosons, the Standard Model, and physics beyond the Standard Model. In addition to the progress and upgrades of experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, discussions at the conference also covered the progress of next-generation Higgs factories, circular or linear electron-positron colliders, 100 TeV proton-proton colliders, as well as muon collider in various regions worldwide. Finally, after discussing several key issues and the future physics prospects of colliders, the conference concluded successfully.

The International Higgs Conference is a prestigious topical conference that brings together experts from both theoretical and experimental fields in the world, providing a platform for researchers and scientists to exchange and communicate. This conference, the first of its series held in China, was hosted by the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-organized by Institute of Theoretical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beihang University and Beijing Normal University.
