Mid-term Review of Research on CEPC Detector R&D

2018-07-10

An international review meeting for the detector R&D at the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) project was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics on June 16th.

More than 25 detector experts from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, USA, Switzerland and China were invited to join the meeting as the international review committee. The experts reviewed the feasibility of related detector design and progress and were expected to give formal reports after the on-site review.

In the past two years, all of the detectors R&D including Silicon pixel, Time Projection Chamber, Calorimeter and Cherenkov detector have been made Significant progress and highlight results. The four sub-detector reports and documents were delivered during the meeting, covering physics motivation, technology options, detailed design, progress and preliminary test results.

The detector volume of preliminary Conceptual Design Report (Pre-CDR) of CEPC project was published in 2015. The updated version of CDR with different MDI (Machine Detector Interface) scheme and beam structure will be released in second half of 2018. The new version is based on the fully partial double-ring design with 100 km circumference.

This CEPC R&D project was funded by National Key Program for S&T Research and Development from Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), with Prof. Gao Yuanning from Tsinghua University as the leading scientist.
