Director of Wigner Research Centre Visits IHEP

Prof. Peter Levai, Director of the Wigner Research Centre for Physics, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, visited the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) on June 6th. Ms. Lili Siklos, the counselor for scientific and technological affairs from the Hungarian embassy, accompanied him.

Prof. Wei Long, Deputy Director of IHEP, expressed his welcome to the Hungarian guests and briefly introduced the research activities of the institute. He also outlined IHEP’s achievements in technology transfer and applications of nuclear technology. Prof. Levai then introduced the research status and technology transfer activities of the Wigner Research Center for Physics.

He highlighted the long-term cooperation between the Wigner Research Center and IHEP, and expressed his wish for more substantive cooperation in new areas of science and technology transfer.

The Wigner Research Centre for Physics was founded on January 1st 2012 by the merging of two former research institutes of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences: the Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics, and the Research Institute for Solid State Physics and Optics. The Centre has 40 research groups, covering diverse topics ranging from particle physics to space physics, and from theoretical physics to applied research.
