Prof. Yuan Changzheng, from the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), has been elected the new spokesperson of the BESIII Collaboration. The announcement was made at the BESIII Physics and Software Workshop, which was held from March 15 to 18 at Peking University.

The workshop this year attracted more than 170 scientists and young scholars from around 25 research institutions and universities in China, Germany, Italy, the United States, Russia, Sweden, the Netherlands and elsewhere.

Seventy talks were given on topics related to BESIII data taking, software and computing, the upgrade of the detector, and future plans. The latest progress on physics analyses was also discussed, including light hadron spectroscopy, charmonium and charmonium states (XYZ), charm physics, RQCD, and new physics.

The BESIII experiment contributes to China’s world-leading role in τ-charm physics. To date, the collaboration has published more than 180 papers. The next BESIII Collaboration Meeting will be held in June at IHEP.
