21st Particles and Nuclei International Conference Held in Beijing
The 21st Particles and Nuclei International Conference (PANIC) was held in China National Convention Center in Beijing from Sept 1 to 5. Altogether 203 delegates from 29 countries and regions participated in this conference.
Prof. Wang Yifang director of the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered an opening speech and introduced the development and the current scientific activities at IHEP.
28 plenary talks and 138 parallel talks were delivered at the conference. The topics covered the latest progress in TeV physics, hardron spectrum, nuclear physics, flavor physics, neutrino physics, astroparticle physics, accelerator and detector etc.
To encourage more young scientists to present their research achievement and communicate with their counterparts, the local organizing committee set a poster session. In the end, Dr. Wang Yaoguang and Dr. Javier Llorente were selected as the best poster after group voting.
The PANIC conference, which is held every three years, showcases the most significant developments in nuclear and particle physics to date. The series started in 1964 at CERN with a small meeting organized by Torleif Ericson and the late Victor Weisskopf and Amos de-Shalit and was followed by the second PANIC meeting which was open to all and held in Israel, at the Weizmann Institute in 1967.
