Joint Neutron Scattering Laboratory Established
The Dongguan Neutron Science Center and the South China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology (AISMST) signed an agreement on June 19th to build a joint neutron scattering laboratory for advanced soft matter science.
The signing ceremony was held at Dongguan campus. A delegation from AISMST, led by Stephen Z. D. Cheng, Dean of AISMST and Member of the US National Academy of Engineering, attended the ceremony. Professor Chen Hesheng, project manager of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS), received the guests.
Prof. Chen Yanwei, Director of the Dongguan Neutron Science Center, hosted the ceremony. After watching a short video about CSNS, Prof. Chen gave the guests a brief introduction to the latest progress on the CSNS project. At the end of the ceremony, an agreement to build a joint neutron scattering laboratory for advanced soft matter science was signed. CSNS and AISMST will work together to build the laboratory and develop cooperation in materials, energy and information technology research. After the ceremony, the delegates were given a tour of the CSNS campus.
Established by South China University of Technology in May 2016, AISMST aims to bring together high profile academics from around the globe to build a world-leading multidisciplinary platform for scientific research and technology applications. It will respond to the major demands of China and Guangdong province by focusing on soft matter related fields, such as the scientific basis of soft matter and soft material engineering.
