Strategy Seminar for China’s High Energy Physics held

2016-09-08

The Sixth Strategy Seminar of the Chinese Physical Society (CPS)’s Committee on High Energy Physics was held at the University of Science and Technology of China from August 20 to 21. More than 100 physicists participated, from research fields including high energy experiments, theoretical research, particle accelerators and detector technologies.

Prof. Zhao Zhengguo, director of the Committee on High Energy Physics, delivered a keynote speech, in which he outlined his thoughts on the current status of accelerator-based high energy physics research and strategy for the future development of high energy physics.

He emphasized that China's accelerator-based future high energy physics research is facing a crucial time. At present, the high energy physics community has reached a consensus on the possible options for construction of future accelerator facilities.

During the meeting, participants heard reports on the high-energy frontier of large electron-positron colliders (including Higgs factories and Z factories), cutting-edge electron-positron accelerators with high precision and high luminosity. Valuable suggestions were made for the development of China's accelerator-based high energy physics research.
