Second Weihai High-Energy Physics School held at Shandong University

2016-09-02

The Second Weihai High-Energy Physics School (WHEPS) was held at Shandong University’s Weihai campus from July 30th to August 7th. WHEPS is organized by the CAS Center for Excellence in Particle Physics (CCEPP) and the Collaborative Innovation Center for Particles and Interactions (CICPI), and aims to further the education of high-level students for the long-term development of China’s High Energy Physics research.

The School provides young physicists with an opportunity to learn about recent advances in elementary-particle physics from world-leading researchers. It also aims to encourage interaction among young researchers from different experiments and institutions. This year, the school provided High-Energy Physics courses from an experimental and phenomenological perspective, with focuses on neutrino physics and dark matter, hadron physics, electroweak interactions at the TeV scale, and advanced techniques in accelerators, detectors and electronics.

This year, 48 ??postdoctoral fellows and graduate students took part. During the nine-day course, participants were divided into eight study groups to discuss the course in depth and conduct relevant research.

Course material and handouts can be downloaded from the WHEPS website: http: //wheps.ihep.ac.cn/
