The European Spallation Source European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ESS ERIC) and the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHEP, CAS) signed a collaboration agreement on proton linear accelerator research in Beijing on May 18th, 2016.
At the signing ceremony, Prof. Roland Garoby, the Technical Director of ESS, and Prof. WANG Yifang, the Director of IHEP, exchanged greetings and expressed support on behalf of the two institutes. Professor PAN Weimin, Project Manager of ADS at IHEP, introduced the progress and research achievements of the Injector I accelerator facility.
The official name of the agreement, which was signed by Prof. Roland Garoby and Prof. QIN Qing, Deputy Director of IHEP, is “Collaboration Agreement for Scientific and Research Collaboration between ESS ERIC and IHEP, CAS”. Within the framework of the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on various aspects of accelerator research including beam dynamics, low level RF control systems, and superconducting cavities.
After the ceremony, the guests from ESS visited the ADS beam test stand and other experiment sites at IHEP. Also attending the ceremony were Prof. Ferenc Mezei, Deputy Director of ESS, and some of the key researchers of the IHEP ADS project.
