Silicon Array Detector on Satellite Powered Up

2015-12-22

The silicon array detector developed by IHEP was launched together with the dark matter particle detection satellite on December 17, 2015. Being powered up, the detector is now under normal working conditions, marking a new phase in the long journey and lays a firm foundation for taking data in the next step.

The silicon array detector is the largest of its kind at home with the highest integration and is one of the key payloads on the satellite. It will used to detect and measure the tracks and electrical charge of high energy cosmic ray particles.

The detector started its R&D in 2013, which has been carried out in collaboration with INFN and the Geneva University.
