36th Meeting of U.S. /PRC Joint Committee on High Energy Physics held in Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
The 36th Meeting of the U.S. /PRC Joint Committee on High Energy Physics took place on November 3 to 4, 2015 in the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). The U.S. delegation was led by Dr. James Siegrist, Associate Director of the Office of Science for High Energy Physics, U.S. Department of Energy. The Chinese delegation was led by Dr. XU Ruiming, Director-General of the Bureau of Frontier Sciences and Education, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The Meeting started with opening remarks from the Co-Chairs, following which the chair of HEPAP gave an overview of the U.S. HEP program and strategic plan. Presentations on the program status and plans for both IHEP and for SINAP and a series of six activity review talks by the representatives of ANL, BNL, LBNL, SLAC, TJNAF and IHEP, reporting on the progress of collaborative efforts since the last meeting were presented.
Three special reports on Daya Bay Experiment, BESIII Experiment and CSNS and CEPC were also delivered at the meeting. At the meeting, both sides agreed that the format of the committee's report on program activities would be modified after this year's meeting. Instead of the current structure, in which detailed cooperative activities are listed laboratory by laboratory, the report would be organized by science themes, in which the science is summarized and the broad areas of cooperation are defined. After extended discussions, both sides agreed with the U.S./PRC Cooperative Program in High Energy Physics for 2015-2016.
A tour to Berkeley Lab Laser Accelerator Center (BELLA)and the Advanced Light Source(ALS) was organized after meeting.
