A Series of TeV Physics Studies Successfully Organized

2015-09-01

From July 26 to August 9, 2015, a series of TeV physics studies was held on the Huairou Campus of the University of CAS, including the Sixth Summer School on TeV High Energy Physics Frontiers, the 2015 Summer School on Particle Physics and Cosmology (SI) and the Tenth TeV Physics Working Group Workshop.

This series of TeV studies was divided into three phases. The first phase (the Sixth Summer School on TeV High Energy Physics Frontiers), aiming at students and young scientists at home, lasted one week from July 26 to 31, 2015. The second phase was the 2015 Summer School on Particle Physics and Cosmology (SI) which lasted one week from August 1 to 7, 2015. This school originated from Japan and the attendees were from both home and abroad. The third phase was the Tenth TeV Physics Working Group Workshop which attracted 83 scholars from 25 institutions at home and from the U.S.A., Japan and Germany. The workshop had 22 talks and a special session discussing the CDR of the CEPC.

This year is the first year for LHC to run at its full capacity 13-14 TeV after its maintenance. Physicists are looking forward to discovering new physics beyond the standard model. The series of activities serves as a method of promoting communications and exchanges, laying a good basis for talent cultivation for China’s high energy physics. The response so far has been very positive; it is hoped that more summer schools at high level shall be organized.

The series of activities was jointly organized by IHEP, Tsinghua University and the University of CAS, and was supported by NSFC and CCAST.
