On May 29, the first β=0.12, 325MHz superconducting half-wave resonator for high intensity proton beam in the world that was designed and developed by IHEP was successfully tested at IHEP.
At 4.2K, the Q0 of the cavity reached 1×109 at gradient of 11.7MV/m, while Q0=4.3×108 at the maximum gradient of 15.9MV/m. The vertical test results indicate that the HWR012 cavity has reached the design goals and met the use requirements.
The HWR012 superconducting cavity can be applied in CW high intensity proton beam accelerator. The success of the vertical test is a mark that our country has achieved great progress in the research of very low β superconducting cavity for high intensity proton beam accelerators.
