The 2015 Workshop on IHEP Development Strategy was held on May 4-5, 2015 and was attended by more than 120 people including the IHEP main staff members, directors and academicians.

The workshop was chaired by CHEN Hesheng, CAS Academician and Chairman of the IHEP Science Committee. He pointed out that 2015 is the last year of the Twelfth Five-year Plan, the discussions of the workshop should be based upon the problems and the conclusions made by the International Evaluation organized by CAS in 2013.

The workshop specially invited ZHANG Chuang to give a talk on the development of laser accelerators. SHEN Xiaoyan, MA Li, PAN Weimin, CAO Jun, LU Fangjun, CAO Zhen, DONG Yuhui, WEI Long and ZHAO Yuliang separately reported on the accelerator-based particle experiments, spallation neutron source, ADS proton linac, Jiangmen neutrino experiment, HXMT, LHAASO, HEPS-TF, nuclear imaging technologies and nano-medicine. Discussions followed those talks.

During the discussions, WANG Yifang, Director of IHEP, introduced the current situation that IHEP is facing and the direction for future development. He emphasized that the mega-science facility construction and the tasks covered by the “One-Three-Five” Program are the keys and priorities IHEP needs to finish. He pointed out that IHEP should further its efforts on capability building, taking into account both basic and applied researches. Though the tasks covered in the Twelfth Five-year Plan have been well finished, IHEP is facing difficulties and challenges. Wang encouraged all present to make all their efforts and contribute to the future development of IHEP.

Representing the Science Committee, CHEN Hesheng delivered the summary of the workshop. He commented that it would be essential to realize sustainable development of multi-disciplines while putting emphasis on particle physics. He wished IHEP would continue to develop and make new achievements.
