Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission officially approved the proposal for the testing facility of the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), which is the first approved mega-science project proposal during the “12th Five-year Plan”.
The testing facility is one of the key mega-science projects in the “12th Five-year Plan”. IHEP is the legal person and the construction will last three years. Capabilities will be built up through the construction of the testing facility with an aim to finally build HEPC into a machine with the highest luminosity in the world. With this in mind, critical technologies will be studied during the process.
To get HEPS approved early, it is a must to finish the testing facility on time and at high quality. For the next step, the project team will concentrate its efforts on feasibility and R&D studies on the testing facility.
