2015-03-17

The Third Beijing-Chicago Workshop on Detector R&D, Circular Collider and Cosmology, jointly run by Chicago University and IHEP, was held in Beijing on March 9-10, 2015. About 70 people from Chicago University, Fermilab, ANL, IHEP and other Chinese universities and research institutions attended the workshop.

The workshop lasted two days with one day in IHEP and the other day in Chicago University’s Beijing Center which is located near Renmin University of China. As its name indicated, the workshop had concentrated on detector R&D, circular collider and cosmology. It got 35 talks dealing with photomultiplier, detector for medical purposes, future accelerator design, Higgs precision measurement, dark matter and cosmic background radiation. Deep and fruitful discussions were carried out on those topics.

The workshop has been a full success. IHEP has good cooperative ties with Chicago University and the U.S. national labs in Chicago area. The workshop aims to establish a bridge between the university and the national labs in Chicago and those in Beijing. The three workshops held so far have proved that it is a perfect platform for exchanges and discussions. It is expected that the workshop will continue and will further promote the exchanges and collaboration between the two sides.
