Dong Shihai elected Member of Mexican Academy of Sciences

The celebration was made on the 54th Annual Conference of the Mexican Academy of Sciences on June 20 in Mexico City. The vice president of AMC, Blanca Jiménez welcomed the new members of the organization including 86 regular members and 7 foreign members, and Dong was one of the elected regular members.
With a total of 2428 members till 2012, AMC is an association of distinguished scientists that is independent from the Mexican government. One of its main objectives is to promote scientific development within Mexico, as well as to foster connections with scientists in other countries.
Dong was born in 1969 at Dalian, a beautiful costal city in northeastern of China. He got his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from IHEP in 1999 under the supervisor of Ma Zhongqi, the first doctor of science awarded in China. After that Dong joined University of Oxford as a Visiting Professor, the Kansas State University as a Postdoc fellow, the National Autonomous University of Mexico as a Visiting Professor, the Mexican Institute of Petroleum as the Postdoc fellow and Distinguished Visiting Professor, the National Polytechnic Institute as a full-time Professor through Program of Excellent Position. Currently he is working as the Professor of Physics at the Superior School of Physics and Mathematics, National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico.
