Both sides shared the latest research progress on cosmology and exchanged ideas on the future cooperation in space science.

Prof. David N. Spergel, chair of the Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University delivered a report on the cosmology after planck. Prof. Lu Fangjun from IHEP, elaborated on the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT) project and other space high energy astrophysics projects in China.

“While visiting IHEP, we hope to promote the Sino-U.S. youth seminar on space science, learn China’s space science planning in the short term and the latest progress in HXMT and XTP project”, said Prof. David N. Spergel. In the meeting, both sides agreed that more information should be exchanged in the planning of the space sciences.

The Space Studies Board (SSB) was established in 1958 to serve as the focus of the interests and responsibilities in space research for the National Academies of the United States. The SSB provides an independent, authoritative forum for information and advice on all aspects of space science and applications, and it serves as the focal point within the National Academies for activities on space research. The SSB also serves as the U.S. National Committee for the International Council for Science Committee on Space Research (COSPAR).
