IHEP and Sun Yat-sen University join hands for future cooperation
A six-member-delegation led by Mr. Xu Ningsheng, President of the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) recently visited the Institute of High Energy Physics. Both sides held extended discussions over the future cooperation in scientific research and students’ education.
The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS)and Jiangmen Neutrino Experiment sited in Guangdong Province have been two hot topics for discussions during the meeting. SYSU proposed that a joint research institute consisting of a spallation neutron source laboratory and a neutrino laboratory be establised to strengthen the collaboration between the sides and to advance the development of science and technology in Guangdong Province.
Prof. Wang Yifang, Director of IHEP responded positively to the SYSU proposal, commeting that it is a marvellous idea and IHEP would try its best to cooperate and to make it a reality. Bothe sides exchanged views on the proposal and discussed the details. It was agreed that substantial exchanges would be continued to push the collaboration, to this end, a contact person on each side has been nominated.
Sun Yat-sen University, originally known as Guangdong University, was founded in 1924. The University is located in Guangdong Province, an area neighboring Hong Kong and Macao. Being one of the leading universities in China, Sun Yat-sen University is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary university, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, medical sciences, pharmacology, and management sciences.
