China’s next-generation electron positron collider discussed

2013-06-18

The Fragrant Hill Science Conference on the Next-generation High Energy Electron Positron Collider---Current Situation and Future Strategy was held in the Beijing Fragrant Hill Hotel from June 12 to 14. 35 noted high energy and accelerator physicists from 11 institutes of the country joined the meeting.

At the meeting, Prof. Wang Yifang delivered the key-note speech. Scientists reviewed the achievements of the high energy frontier experiments and the current research programs on particle physics both at home and abroad, and discussed the future strategy of the China’s next-generation high energy electron positron collider.

The next-generation collider is to complement and advance physics beyond the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. On June 12, the International Linear Collider (ILC) officially published its Technical Design Report, which marks the completion of many years globally coordinated R&D efforts and the relevant preparations. At the same time, the scientists deem that the next-generation electron positron collider so called "the Higgs Factory" will be a significant historical opportunity for the development of China's high energy physics. Activities will be actively organized to advance the discussions and studies on the topic.
