CSNS H-ion source and low energy beam transport line developed

2013-06-08

The Front-end team of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) Project recently finished the commissioning of the H-ion source and the low  energy beam transport line (LEBT), a milestone progress for the CSNS Project.

In the initial commissioning, a maximum H-beam current of 38mA and a stable H-beam current of 20.7mA at the entrance of LEBT were obtained. Scientists were planning further commissions to increase the H-beam current and to improve the stability of the ion source.

The construction and commissioning were conducted in the temporary laboratory provided by the DongGuan University of Technology due to the unavailability of the CSNS laboratory at the moment. The joint efforts of the Institute of High Energy Physics and the DongGuan University of Technology ensure the success of the research.
