Progress on heavy quarkonium physics discussed at IHEP

2013-05-08

From April 22 to 26, the 9th International Heavy Quarkonium Workshop was held at the Institute of High Energy Physics. 150 participants from 59 scientific institutions in 15 countries joined the workshop.

In 2002, the quarkonium working group was set up to intensify the exchange of ideas and information between experimentalists and theorists in quarkonium physics. 81 talks were made in the workshop. Great opportunities were provided for an intense and effective exchange of results and needs between experimentalists and theorists.

The BESIII experiment contributes to China’s leading role in τ-charm physics in the world. On March 26, the BESIII collaboration has announced the observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure, a particle that they named the “Zc(3900)”. This experimental progress has triggered intensive discussion during the workshop. More experimental results from BESIII were anticipated in the future.
