Daya Bay Collaboration brings charm to the world
On the evening of March 30, the 2012-2013 "You Bring Charm to the World" Award Ceremony was solemnly held in Peking University Hall. The

Dr. Wang Yifang, the Spokesperson of the Collaboration and IHEP Director presented at the ceremony and received the award from Mr. Wang Enge, the President of the Peking University. In his speech, Wang Yifang expressed his thanks to all the scientific staff of the Daya Bay Experiment and his appreciations for all the support from leaders and collaborators.
Wang said: “Just like art borne in the evolution of human culture and like many other civilizations, science is not as profit-rewarding as other sectors. It can not produce an immediate effect upon a nation’s economy, however, science is a part of human civilization. A great nation can not go without advanced science. I hope that more people get interested and involved in science, I believe that someday China will become one of the scientific leaders in the world. ”
"You Bring Charm to the World" Award, jointly initiated by Phoenix TV and Phoenix Net, is an annual grand event for all the Chinese in the world, which has been successfully held for five consecutive years. This year’s ceremony awarded 11 prizes in total.
On March 8, 2012, the Daya Bay Collaboration announced the discovery of a new kind of neutrino transformation by accurate measurement of theta13. This significant achievement got strong responses from the international field of physics and was commented as a milestone in the research of neutrino physics. The Daya Bay experimental results had been announced as one of the top ten science Breakthroughs of the Year 2012 by Science Magazine.
