The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) and the Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) join in hands in the education of the undergraduate

students. Prof. Wang Huanyu, IHEP Deputy Director signed the cooperative agreement with Ms. Feng Xiaoyun, SWJTU Vice-President on March 15 in Chengdu.

Ms. Feng extended her warm welcome to the IHEP scientists and introduced the current status of the physics education in SWJTU. Prof. Wang reported on the history, current scientific activities and future development of IHEP.

Both sides expressed the wishes that through the joint education of the undergraduate students, the physics education in SWJTU could be further developed and more potential post-graduates with higher qualities will be sent to IHEP in the future.

Founded in 1896, SWJTU is one of the earliest universities in China. Holding tightly the beliefs of “persisting in innovation, highlighting application, strengthening cooperation, upholding development”, aiming at the cutting edge of international science and technology, and focusing on the significant national projects, SWJTU has made great progress in basic science research, the training for science and technology talents, incorporating the functions of production, education and research, services for the good of the local economy and so on.
