vivid speech entitled “Dream On” and over three hundred IHEP staff and students listened to the speech.

Born on August 10, 1957 in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, Xu Haifeng is a male Chinese pistol shooter, and the first person to win a gold medal for China in the Olympic Games, breaking China's "zero record" in Olympic gold medals. He specializes in the 50 metre pistol event.

In his speech, XU shared the ups and downs in his sports life with the audiences. A self-trained world champion, the first gold winner of the 23rd Olympic Games, China's first Olympic gold medal winner, coach of two Olympic gold medal winners, creator of the country's history of Olympic golds — Xu has many accolades and will be remembered as a sports hero. True to his nicknames of "Gold Athlete" and "Gold Coach," he is a legend who will never fade.

"If you want to succeed, you must follow three rules. The first one is to have a goal and realize it step by step, the second to cultivate the interest and the third to learn broadly”, XU concluded in his speech.

Prof. Pan Weimin, Deputy Director of IHEP said: “we feel very honored to have Mr. Xu Haifeng, China’s first Olympic Champion present here at IHEP today. His spirits could inspire the scientific staff here. As a scientific staff, we must endeavor to make contributions to the development of science and society in China in the future.”
