BEPCII luminosity hits new high
On the early morning of March 8, 2013, the collision luminosity of the Upgraded Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPCII) has reached a stable record of 7×1032cm-2 s-1 at the energy of 1.89 GeV, and the highest hit 7.08×1032cm-2 s-1. This was another new high record after the luminosity of 6.492×1032cm-2 s-1 was reached at BEPCII on April 8, 2011.
In January, 2013, BEPCII has dedicated the whole month to the data collection of Y(4260). After this run, BEPCII has greatly improved its collision luminosity and integrated luminosity by improving the injection efficiency, increasing the beam intensity and upgrading the collision parameters. After seven days of non-stop work from February 28, the highest luminosity at BEPCII reached 7.08×1032cm-2 s-1 on the early morning of March 8.
The main task of this week would be the scientific research on the machine. Following that, the BEPCII will start a new run of data collection of Y(4260) and will be ready to deliver powerful beams to the Beijing Spectrometer (BESIII) experiments.
