BESIII new members approved, data acquisition plans set
New members were approved at the most recent BESIII Collaboration meeting, which extends the list of collaborators to a total of 52. The new members are Uppsala University in Sweden and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) in Pakistan.
The BESIII Collaboration meeting was held in Suzhou University from June 9 to 13, 2012 and was attended by more than 200 physicists from 36 collaborating institutes and universities around the world.
Prof. SHEN Xiaoyan, Spokeswoman for BESIII Collaboration chaired the opening ceremony of this meeting. The attendees listened to and reviewed the reports covering BEPCII current status, data collection in the past run, super-conducting magnets, MDC inner chamber, upgrade plan for TOF, progress in hardware and software physics analysis etc.
This meeting occurred right after one billion J/Psi events were collected at BEPCII/BESIII. And a lot of BESIII-related papers have been published this year. And a series of exhilarating physics results is expected to unveil after the meeting. It is agreed that the data acquisition plans for the next run will be focused on charmonium physics and full-energy zone scanning.
