IHEP joins Beijing Science and Technology Week

As a base for public science education in Beijing, the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) displayed its latest science achievements in Beijing Science and Technology Week, which lasted from May 19

In IHEP’s exhibition area, visitors could have a close look at the prototypes of Beijing Electron and Positron Collider, Beijing Spectrometer, and a responsive robot. These prototypes demonstrated their operating principles in vivid light and audio forms. Visitors were invited to enjoy a Q&A games with the robots. Pamphlets on Daya Bay Experiment and Dr. Xie Jialin, who won the national top science award, were distributed in the exhibition. During the seven-day exhibition, thousands of visitors toured the IHEP exhibition area and joined in the interactive games.

The Beijing Science and Technology Week is part of China's annual "Science and Technology Week" which has been held since 2001 and is an annual celebration of science in China, an opportunity to join together, to enjoy and explore the wonders and benefits of science.

This year, the Beijing Science and Technology Week includes an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters on its main venue, the National Agriculture Exhibition Center, and showcases more than 120 scientific and technological displays relating to people's daily life, covering topics such as low carbon lifestyles and food safety related inventions. A total of over 600 scientific and technology related activities were launched during the week.
