The 6th Asian Meeting on Synchrotron Radiation Biomedical Imaging held
The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) held the 6th Asian Meeting on Synchrotron Radiation Biomedical Imaging in Qinghai Province from August 11 to 14. About 40 participants from over 30 research institutes and universities all around the world attended this meeting.
6 invited talks, 14 plenary reports and a special poster session for young scholars and students were arranged at the meeting, whose topics were focused on synchrotron x-ray imaging methods and the latest progress in biomedical application of this technology.
Synchrotron x-ray imaging methods have made available the unique integration of multi-scale resolution(from ~30nm to 30 micron), high sensitive (phase contrast and fluorescence), deep penetrability and various imaging contrast mechanisms (electron density, element, chemicalstate et.al.), which can be applied to investigate the hierarchical structures of biomedical objects (from organelle, cell, tissue, organ to body) nondestructively, and which will play a more and more important role in the biological medicine research.
The meeting was a full success in that it had provided a platform for the medical doctors, biologists and SR experts from different countries to identify their common interests, to network research teams and to investigate new scientific problems.
