May 12, 2011 at the invitation of Dr. CHEN Hesheng, IHEP Director.

CHEN Hesheng extended a warm welcome to Dr. Mason and expressed his appreciation for the laboratory’s support for the China Spalation Neutron Source (CSNS) Project. CHEN made a brief introduction about the scientific activities at IHEP. Researchers from CSNS project reported the current project progress.

Dr. Mason introduced the Spallation Neutron Sciences (SNS) Project at ORNL. SNS is the world’s most intense pulsed accelerator-based neutron source. Completed in 2006, SNS is a unique facility that is providing the neutron scattering community with unprecedented research opportunities. At present, the second target station is under design.

After reports and introduction, both sides discussed possible future cooperation.
