main theme of the workshop was to review its plans for the next five years. Members of the IHEP Academic Committee and those specially invited attended the workshop.

Dr. CHEN Hesheng, IHEP Director, expounded the draft plans by pointing out the key areas and the projects during the next five years and for the "Innovation 2020". IHEP is facing an important opportunity of development with so many things waiting to be done. We must adhere to the principle of "doing things according to possibilities and priorities".　　　 

17 Representatives from the accelerator, experimental physics, synchrotron radiation, astro-physics and technology divisions reported on their plans and on the means to realize the plans, which quite often followed by heated discussions.

Through this workshop, many valuable suggestions were put forward and plans for IHEP’s twelfth five-year plan were approved in principle. It is expected that the plans will be submitted to CAS in June 2011.
